Concept and Genesis of
BIOKET
BIOKET, short for BIOeconomy Key Enabling Technologies, is a global event dedicated to the processes and technologies applied to biomass.
Created in 2018 by B4C – The French Bioeconomy Cluster, BIOKET was founded to fill a niche in highlighting the Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) that are essential for transforming biomass into high value added products.
While many events focus on end-user markets, global trends and policy, BIOKET emphasizes the technologies that drive industrial modernization and the transition towards a greener economy.

BIOKET 2026 in Fribourg marked another record-breaking edition, bringing together 470+ registered participants, 140+ speakers, and a global community of bioeconomy stakeholders. From March 17 to 19, the event became a hub for innovation, collaboration, and business opportunities, with 80+ sponsors and exhibitors, including 20 startups in the Startup Village, and 2,400+ B2B meetings. The program featured 3 keynote sessions, 10 technical sessions, 3 workshops, 2 startup pitch sessions, and 3 innovation tours, while the Christian Patermann BIOKET Bioeconomy Award celebrated excellence and impact in the sector. More than ever, BIOKET reaffirmed its role as The Ultimate Bioeconomy Experience.

Over three vibrant days, the event became a hub of innovative ideas, transformative discussions, and powerful connections, with 77 sponsors and exhibitors and 1,290 B2B meetings. This unforgettable edition also featured the launch of the Christian Patermann BIOKET Bioeconomy Prize, which honors pioneering projects in the field. Held in the heart of Europe, BIOKET 2025 reaffirmed its role not just as a conference, but as a global movement driving sustainable innovation.
