The APROVALS project aims to facilitate the deployment and integration of emerging technologies in the field of cellular agriculture by implementing a testing environment that serves innovators throughout the development process of their products. The project is part of an initiative to deploy and integrate emerging technologies in cellular agriculture, with 3 main activities to be implemented within this project:

• A dedicated testing environment (sandbox) where innovators can refine their solutions, thus fostering their development and accelerating their market launch.
• An expert group to facilitate collaboration between key actors in cellular agriculture, including start-ups, growing SMEs, and innovation support players.
• A transparent dialogue platform with regulators and policymakers to provide recommendations based on results from the testing environment.

This session will focus on the Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) driving innovation in precision fermentation. Participants will gain insights into the tools and techniques that are shaping the future of biomanufacturing, including cutting-edge process optimization, strain engineering, and automation systems. Expect to learn about real-world applications, case studies, and the challenges and opportunities that precision fermentation presents for achieving more efficient, sustainable, and scalable production processes.

This session will focus on the future of biomass utilization, particularly organic waste, gaseous emissions (CO2, CO), and the development of zero waste biorefineries. We will explore cutting-edge technologies for converting waste and gases into high added value molecules, while addressing the challenge of securing reliable access to new feedstocks sources. Discussions will include strategies for securing feedstocks, CO2 capture, and the implementation of circular bioeconomy models that ensure sustainable, zero-waste production processes in biorefineries.
